Bird Walk at Crooked Run Nature Preserve

Chilo Lock 34 Park

Event Summary

Feb 26, 2023
9:00 am

Have you ever been hiking and wondered “What’s that bird?” Here’s your chance to start learning the birds you may see and hear in Clermont County. No experience is required, the only thing needed is an interest in birds. We will walk slowly, looking and listening, with frequent stops as we attempt to get all eyes on the birds. Dress for the weather, and bring binoculars if you have them. We will have loaner binoculars available. Meet at the Chilo Lock 34 Park & Museum Parking Lot.

Crooked Run Nature Preserve is 77 acres along the Ohio River in southeast Clermont County. The property consists of woods, a meadow, observation blinds along Crooked Run, and wetlands. Winter birding here offers opportunities from ducks to raptors to six species of woodpeckers.

Your guide will be Kathi Hutton, a resident of the Cincinnati area for 35 years. Kathi started birding when she identified her first White-crowned Sparrow in her backyard in 1994. She currently has a Life List of 432 species in North America, 325 in Ohio, and over 500 species worldwide.
