Successful 2026 Winter Bird Count
Since one Saturday in January 2000, teams of park district staff and volunteers have hit the trails in our parks armed with clipboards and binoculars. The goal? Counting birds! The annual Clermont County Winter Bird Count tallies not only species, but also individual birds. Let’s look at some numbers! Interestingly, the year with the highest number of species was 2016 with 87 species, however 2007 had the most individual birds tallied at 2094 birds! This year, we counted a total of 1489 individual birds, with a total of 49 species across the county. The highlight species this year were winter wrens, black ducks, green-winged teals, and yellow-rumped warblers. Join us next year on January 9, 2027 to see what birds you can see and contribute to community science!
