Join us for a series of eye-opening talks on a different topic each month. We’ll bring in guest lecturers to discuss nature, history, and more. Come mingle, share some refreshments and learn! Lectures are held on the second Wednesday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Pattison Park Lodge. Presentations are geared towards adults/teens and are free and open to all.

November 9: Planting for Birds by Greg Torres 

Join us for the first presentation in our Evening Lecture Series, Planting for Birds by Greg Torres. Plants and birds have a long history of working together. As an example of mutualism, this development and relationship between plants and birds has had far reaching consequences, encouraging co-evolution that enhanced the survival of both plants and birds. “Planting for Birds” explores some of these relationships, tips how we can grow plants to create habitats to help birds thrive, as well as resources for selections of beautiful native plants that support our local ecosystem.
Greg Torres is a Naturalist, Horticulturist and Environmental Educator. He works in Cincinnati Park’s Conservation and Land Management. He is a co-host on the Nature Guys podcast. Greg strives to connect people and communities to their local greenspaces through education and volunteerism.

Create amazing nature photos with your smart phone! Melinda Hartong will provide tips to help everyone, beginner to advanced, take better photos. Come mingle, share some refreshments and learn!
Malinda is a freelance photojournalist, with over 20 years of full-time staff & freelance experience, including a daily newspaper – stills & video, news and features for all sorts of publications and purposes. She truly enjoys sharing her experience and love of photography and photoshop. With ongoing classes, summer camps, and workshops covering Digital Photography for Beginners, DSLR: Beyond Auto Mode, iPhonography, and Photoshop, plus 1-1 private lessons for beginners to aspiring pros.
