Clingman Park Boardwalk

If you have ever walked the Old Growth Trail at Clingman Park, you may have noticed the magnificent American Beech tree stands and their wild root systems. In an effort to preserve those tree stands we have begun installing a boardwalk! The boardwalk will provide protection to the root systems by reducing the amount of compaction from foot traffic. It will be approximately 1,300 feet in length and will also provide a drier walking experience for park goers. While we are actively working on this project, we hope to have it done early next year. Please come out and enjoy this addition to a scenic trail and say hi to the crew members working hard to complete it!
