EVENTS
The Park District holds a variety of nature programs and events that are open to the public throughout the year. All programs are free with no registration required unless otherwise specified. Held rain or shine.
In the event of severe weather, cancellation will be posted on our Facebook and emailed to registered participants at least 2 hours before the program is scheduled. Unless otherwise stated, children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. For programs that require pre-registration, our registration will open up about 3 weeks before the program's date. Join us as we celebrate this rare celestial event! We will have park naturalists and other staff at Chilo Lock 34, Shor Park and Kathryn Stagge-Marr to guide you as we experience and safely view the solar eclipse together. Glasses and a craft provided. All ages welcome, no registration required.
Bluebells Walk
Immerse yourself in nature as we walk through a spring ephemeral wonderland! Join naturalists to walk the park and view these beautiful flowers before they're gone. All ages welcome, no registration required. Please dress for a short hike through possibly muddy areas.
Hoedown in the Park
Dance and vibe to Russ Childers & the Rabbit Hash String Band on Sunday April 14th from 2pm til 4pm.
It's a "Hoedown in the Park" kind of Sunday!

Learn all about some of the invasive plant species that can run amuck in your backyard. We will discuss how to remove these pesky plants as well as educate on native plant replacements that will benefit you and the wildlife in the area!
Breakfast and Birding
What could be better than hot coffee, fresh donuts, and a morning hike to go bird watching? Come join us as we enjoy some breakfast and look for our favorite winter birds. Geared for adults. Free, no registration required.
River History Museum Open
Take a step back in time at Chilo Lock 34 Park! Stop by to learn how the Ohio River has changed over time and influenced the people living around it. All ages. Free, no registration required.

Connect with the past site of a US Army Corp of Engineers lock and dam, see how the river has changed over time, and learn about the history of living and working on the great Ohio River. All ages. Free, no registration required
