Winter Bird Count Numbers

Since one Saturday in January 2000, teams of park district staff and volunteers have hit the trails in our parks armed with clipboards and binoculars. The goal? Counting birds! The annual Clermont County Winter Bird Count tallies not only species, but also individual birds. Let’s look at some numbers! Interestingly, the year with the highest number of species was 2016 with 87 species, however 2007...

Clermont County Museum Passport

For the very first time, local museums are coming together to launch the Clermont County History & Museum Passport. This brand-new initiative encourages guests to collect stamps as they travel from site to site, discovering everything from early settlement stories to aviation history, agriculture, and the legacy of President Ulysses S. Grant.

Whether you stop by just one museum or make it a full ...

Throughout 2025, we invited several local artists to lead crafting sessions in our parks. We made tiny terrariums, learned how to make natural dyes, crafted flowers out of both upcycled book pages and stained glass pieces, hand-dyed patches, and so much more!

Construction on Boardwalk at Clingman Park

If you have ever walked the Old Growth Trail at Clingman Park, you may have noticed the magnificent American Beech tree stands and their wild root systems. In an effort to preserve those tree stands we have begun installing a boardwalk! The boardwalk will provide protection to the root systems by reducing the amount of compaction from foot traffic. It will be approximately 1,300 feet in length and...

This fall, we have been collecting seeds from native plants around our parks. We’ll eventually use the seeds we’ve collected to plant and restore habitat in areas where we’ve been working hard to remove invasive plants. We have been gathering seeds by identifying good native plants, trimming and collecting the dried flower heads, then separating the seeds in to labeled bags of seed mix. So far, we...

Well, the good news is, now you can! The new suspension bridge in Wilson Nature Preserve has been completed. You can now wander across the East Fork Little Miami River to a 25-acre island and walk our brand new 1-mile trail, named Pawpaw Crossing, through a community vote. O...

New Sycamore Sundeck

If you have been to Sycamore Park recently, you might be wondering what the construction zone is all about near the access to the East Fork River. After a very rainy spring and beginning of summer, and what felt like excessively high-water levels in the river, crews were able to begin the construction on our brand new wheelchair-accessible sundeck that will look out over the East Fork of the Littl...

New shelter at Kathryn Stagge-Marr Park

Recently, we celebrated the ribbon cutting and unveiling of our newest park asset: White Oak Shelter at Kathryn Stagge-Marr Park.

This beautiful structure is a testament to our community's resilience after the devastating 2022 tornado in Goshen. Come explore Kathryn Stagge-Marr's fishing pond, disc golf course, playground, and so much more! The new reservable shelter has a capacity of 72 people....

Clingman and board

On March 15, the park board passed a resolution that completely surpised our former Executive Director, Chris Clingman, when they voted to officially name the 132-acre administrative office at 2156 U.S. 50 "Clingman Park".

With all of the exciting things slated to happen at one of our newest properties, staff and board members had been trying to think of a new name that would honor the past whil...
